A new year? How jolly!

A list of resolutions I want to complete... And why!

2026-01-01

2025 is finally over. The past year went by pretty quick but felt so slow at times, the mundane parts of having to pay attention in class for two hours to the exciting parts of landing and completing my internship! I got the opportunity to connect with so many people and was able to learn working on larger scale products and technologies, it’s something I will never regret.

But like all years, it wasn’t perfect. I wasn’t able to do some things that would generally make my life a lot easier, like establishing a solid daily routine instead of waking up two hours before class. I never really had a proper routine to begin with and it’s something I want to change going into this year. Journaling was also something I tried but was never consistent at it. So, I think it’s best to start now with a list of “resolutions” I want to work on this year :)

Establishing a solid routine

Not my strongest skill, I’ll admit. I’ve always kinda lived my life as it is. Wake up early enough and spend my time doing things that I think are important enough to do at the moment. Living like this works fine but it’s not the best, it doesn’t enforce discipline at all and makes it very easy to get sidetracked from what’s most important.

It’ll be hard but the only way to start is by doing. Here’s my step-by-step plan of how:

  1. Make a daily to-do list every morning/night before
  2. Create a weekly recurring schedule around an “average” week
  3. Do the things the exact time I need to, adjust as needed

All of this is easier said than done but ideally having a written plan helps :)

Study better

Surprisingly I’ve been doing pretty decent since I started college. Not many freshmen and sophomores perform well when transitioning from high-school to university, and I haven’t had the best track record of getting good grades in high-school, especially due to COVID. I mainly want to land higher GPAs for the next upcoming semesters to expose myself to greater opportunities for on-campus jobs, because GPA really does matter in those areas.

I need to stick to solid study times more so I can have actual time to do what I love to do. I don’t think this’ll be super hard because most of my classes are computer oriented now, so no need to worry about those annoying math classes!!1

Write more

I’m doing this right now!! Wow!! I always think about things in a way as if I’m doing a 20 minute YouTube video on that topic. I wouldn’t think of doing YouTube, at least yet, but I do need to start writing more about these mysterious topics so that I’m more satisfied with myself. Might start publishing my hot takes on X and LinkedIn too… What could go wrong?

I’d also love to go on weird rants about cars and tech. How to hack your 2004 honda civic hybrid to get an extra 30 horsepower! Probably impossible but doable.

Build a personal brand

I see so many founders being content creators simultaneously, making content about tech and AI content. It’s honestly pretty cool seeing how these people are using opportunities to make content about tech and earn from it as well. I think of doing the same thing but am super hesitant because I get scared of the internet, but the potential to earn some cash and connect with others is pretty tempting especially with how easy it is to get started.

Exercise

No, this doesn’t have to do with the personal brand stuff. Not trying to be Ashton Hall. I do need a healthy exercise habit because it’s pretty easy to be stuck on a computer, trying to debug your homework problem for the entire night before you head to sleep. This goes with establishing a proper routine. As long as I’m able to create a solid schedule, I hope to use my time efficiently to get healthier in the long term.

And more…

There’s so much more I want to do, but there’s only a few things I need to do. I honestly think that doing much of these will bring so much more to my life than I realize at this point. I want to be able to go higher than I’ve been and take advantage of my time to live better. 2026 will be the start of this new journey.

See ya on the next blog… 😉
